Winter Weather Notice – January 16, 2022

According to the National Weather Service, Arnold Air Force Base and surrounding locations are under a Winter Storm Watch through 6:00 PM CST, Sunday, January 16. With temperatures not warming significantly above freezing across the entire mid-state region until afternoon hours on Tuesday, any moisture remaining on area roadways will likely remain frozen. Continue to exercise caution on area roadways through Tuesday. NAS Base Ops and CW Resources are monitoring the situation and are treating our roads, parking lots, and sidewalks as necessary.

Please use judgment when deciding whether or not to commute to work. If you decide to stay home because you cannot get to work safely, please notify your supervisor and record PTO, Comp Time, or Vacation, as applicable, on your time record.

As a reminder, the most dangerous part of your commute can be walking from your vehicle to your work location.

  • Look for and take the safe path
  • Keep your eyes on the path
  • Wear footwear appropriate for the weather conditions

The NAS Management Team will continue to monitor this storm’s impact and will provide updates as needed. Employees can check for updates on the NAS external website (
